twentyone

Yesterday was my 21st birthday guyssssssssss! A few of my good friends and I went to Asia Nine in DC for drinks and food and all that jazz.
I was a little excited about getting the "FIRST LEGAL SIP OF ALCHOL" picture, and then after that I wasn't too concerned about taking photos. Now I wish I had taken more.
I've also been attempting to experiment with color more. Black and white seems to be my "uniform" lately, so I'm trying to throw more colors into the mix. Red and Chartreuse, in my eyes, look very interesting together, and also a bit jarring. I love it! My lipstick is Russian Red by Mac and I highly recommend it. It stays on pretty well but for some reason, of all nights, it didn't really stay on for too long, so you can only really see the true color in this picture. Just my luck!

It was a fun night, low key night. As this post comes to a close, I just want to take the opportunity to say that I'm eternally grateful for my friends. I've never been one to have a ton of friends, but the friends I do have mean so much to me. I can honestly say that I've always tried my best to keep things afloat. That may be one of the few things I'm good at.

pop

This Saturday I will be moving into my house in Richmond. I'm incredibly excited but at the same time, I'm wondering where did my summer go?! Why does time have to move so fast?

Check out the bed set I got today;
via Kohl's

I like the subtle nod to pop art. Plus (if you haven't already noticed) I've been obsessed with red/black/white or cream combinations for quite some time for no particular reason. I think it'll look good contrasted against the brick wall in my bedroom, no?

maximum

Ah, this picture sucks, but omgz I'm finally making an ~outfit post~
albeit a sucky oneKohl's (energie) red maxi dress, UO sandals (not pictured, but I mentioned them in this post)

I guess this is kind of anticlimatic, since I'm not really wearing anything crazy, but I do looovvvvveee this dress. I work at Kohl's in my hometown when I'm not at VCU and I had been eyeing this maxi dress for a while. I finally bought it a few days ago. We have a bunch of different ones in stock and several of my coworkers were bugging me to try one on since they thought I'd look good in them (I'm about 5'7, so I guess that's taller than average?). I was doubtful, but I fell in love with this one. Maxi dresses are so summer-y, and I liked how this one was in red, not a very summer-y color in my eyes. It's so comfortable too, and it was perfect for this 90+ degree day.

nifty

I've decided I'm not going to make a post about the cfda's or resort 2010. I've sort of neglected this blog for the past few days and too much time has passed and all that shebang is now old news and already talked to death about on every other blog out there.

In other news, the weather continues to be terrible. Today was nice (thank god) but there has just been way too much rain lately, it's ridiculous. I've been working so much and honestly, I haven't felt very inspired lately. However, I did find some awesome things at the thrift store the other day!

Forgive me though, these pictures suck.

black cross body bagThis picture doesn't do it justice!

90s floral bustier topLOVE LOVE it, I don't know how I'm going to wear it but I'll think of something. It's very Beverly Hills 90210. 90s revival, check it.

floral skirtAgain, very 90s. It's a little big but I plan on wearing this as a high waited skirt. From far away, it kind of looks like it's covered in pokeballs. Bahahaha!

red flatsMy UO ones have been worn to death, so these will make a nice replacement.

Successful thrifting is always a good pick-me-up.

rainy daze

So this past week, the weather has been terrible. Rainy and/or humid every day. That's Virginia weather for you! You never known what to expect. But lately I've felt like I'm in Seattle, and not in a good way. Meh. So all in all, I've felt very uninspired lately. I hate how the weather seems to control my moods.

I went shopping and picked up a few things... nothing spectacular or crazy, just a few nice and versatile pieces.

Target (Mossimo) asymmetrical tee

I am a sucker for white t-shirts. I loved the silhouette of this particular shirt.

I also got a black tulip skirt with these awesome slouchy pockets (also from Target) but I can't seem to find a picture on the website. Boo!

swimsuit from Victoria's Secret
I've finally found the perfect red swimsuit! And it makes my boobs look awesome! The rest of my body is another story, lawl.

I'm hopelessly pale and I don't really tan or even burn. I feel like the red will compliment my skintone. Kind of like this (except I'm not blonde)
via polkadots & vodkashots

I'm kind of glad glad pale is coming back in to fashion (slowly but steadily). As I've gotten older I've started to feel a little less self conscious about my vampire skin.

EDIT:
That above statement kind of comes across wrong. I think all skintones are beautiful, to be honest. I just wish that there was a wider, accepted scheme of colors deemed "beautiful."

"DO YOU GO OUTSIDE?!"

YES, YES I DO.

May First Friday

For those of you not familiar with Richmond shenanigans, First Fridays is when all the local art galleries present their new exhibitions/installations and such.

I really love how these pictures turned out. Thanks Cosima! Her poses were way better than mine, I have thing or two to learn, hehe :)

OMG it's the kool aid dude!!!

See the resemblance?

My friend and I spotted this while waiting for our bus at the Greyhound station. I thought I'd share.
